Free Tree Care for Eligible Homeowners
Rooted Resilience
Launched in December 2024, Rooted Resilience is Bexar Branches Alliance’s equity-focused tree care program designed to strengthen neighborhoods facing the greatest environmental and climate challenges. The program prioritizes communities with low tree canopy and high heat vulnerability, bringing professional tree care and long-term canopy investment directly to homeowners.
Using a data-driven planning approach, BBA integrates tree equity information with community needs to guide outreach and service delivery. Through hands-on engagement and collaboration with local partners, the program improves tree health, enhances neighborhood safety, and supports long-term canopy growth.
Delivered under budget, the program strategically reinvested remaining funds into a community tree adoption and replacement planting event, providing new trees and watering supplies to participating homeowners and neighbors. This expansion allowed the program to extend its impact beyond the initial households, strengthen long-term tree survival, and increase canopy coverage across the surrounding community.
Bexar Branches Alliance is actively seeking funding to expand the Rooted Resilience pilot program throughout the region.
How to Apply?
Applications will be accepted in July 1st – 31st, with services provided in August and September.

Do you have trees on your property that are dead, sick, or in urgent need of pruning?
Bexar Branches Alliance (BBA) is now accepting applications for the Rooted Resilience Program, a free tree care and replacement program for income-eligible homeowners in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood (Census Block Group 480291105001)—the area with the lowest tree equity score in all of San Antonio.
This program is generously funded by Microsoft and the City of San Antonio Office of Sustainability.
If you live in any of the following blocks in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood, you may qualify:
200–500 block of El Paso St
200 block of Torreon St
200–300 block of Colima St
300–400 block of Rosa Verde St
100–200 block of Vista Del Sur
1100 block of Gutierrez St
1000–1100 block of Guadalupe Ybarra St
1000–1100 block of Julia Ross St
300 block of Paseo Verde
700–900 block of S Leona St
600–700 block of Chihuahua St
1100–1200 block of S San Marcos St
1000–1100 block of Grand Aly
